Five guests of the African festival, Elisa Diallo, Elnathan John, Sarah Ladipo Manyika, Wangui wa Goro and Zukiswa Wanner, present a surprising potpourri of refreshing, heart-rending and weird love stories by colleagues*.

With joy and pleasure in everyday life, they show how a romance can catch two individuals out of the blue and what innovative power this short prose holds. Let yourself be surprised and enchanted by Candy Girl written by Hawa Jande Golakai (Liberia), Solitaire by Edwidge Renè Dro (Ivory Coast), Painted Love by Abubakar Adam Ibrahim (Nigeria), Woman In The Orange Dress by Sarah Ladipo Manyika (Nigeria), The Idea Is to be sealed In by Binyavanga Wainaina (Kenya).

Each story is a literary gem and will be heard in different languages that evening. The actors of the Cologne ensemble will playfully present the texts in German translation and make it possible to experience the fact that romanticism - written across the continent by women and men - can be both poetically touching and highly entertaining and 'empowering'.
